Summer Nights was written during my studies at Louis Lumière College in France. It was a way for me to express how I felt about Australia at the time and reconnect with the country I left behind.

It follows Indy, a withdrawn teenager consumed by suburbia strives to connect in a world full of peculiar characters. The film was inspired by the series of photographs by Robert Adams, aptly named Summer Nights Walking.

Once I had landed back in Australia, I contacted my friend and colleague Chloe Lawrence Hartcher to share the script and ask her to come onboard as producer. From there we decided to apply for Metro Screen's Breaks program and were proud to hear in March the following year to have been selected out of hundreds of applications.

The program involves 3 months of intensive workshops with Industry professionals such as screenwriter Karel Segers, playwright Lachlan Philpott and director Jonathan Wald. All 3 mentors were passionate and dedicated to pulling our script apart, exploring our story and its characters to develop it into what you will see on the big screen.

The Break's program is a proven launchpad for aspiring filmmakers, with previous films having been screened internationally at Palm Springs Film Festival, Rhode Island Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival's Dendy Awards and Flickerfest.

To push the project into production we launched our crowd funding campaign on the 16th of July (my birthday) and successfully raised $7000.

Summer Nights will be having its World Premiere at The San Francisco International Festival of Short Films for its 10 year anniversary which runs between the 15th and 17th of October.

Thank you and congratulations to our amazing cast and crew and to all of you who showed enormous generosity by donating to our crowd funding campaign! A HUGE thank you also goes out to Metro Screen which will unfortunately be closing at the end of this year, their support and guidance throughout the process was invaluable and we feel privileged to have been a part of their journey.
